DISEASE
EXPOSURE CONTROL In the event of a pandemic or a terrorist
exposure incident for which there is no medical treatment
or vaccine, measures will have to be taken to slow or stop
the spread of infection. Since quarantine has not been necessary
in the United States for 80 years, and there is an emphasis
in the USA on individual freedoms, disease containment presents
unique challenges. This course examines guidelines by which
a disease may be controlled, describes the tools available
to assist control of the spread of disease (infection control,
quarantine), compliance measure (education, law enforcement),
discusses key policy issues and suggests protocols for plan
development.
