30 Contact Hours of Continuing Nursing Education (1 Hour = 50 minutes)
All hours may be completed by home study.
The required number of hours shall have been completed during the most recent prior licensing period. Contact hours accumulated in excess of the 30 hour requirement shall not be carried over to the next renewal period. Identical offerings completed within a renewal period are not approved nor will offerings containing the same content as courses that are part of basic preparation at the level of the current licensure.

For advanced practice nurses - the same 30 hours
of CNE can be used for RN/RNA and AN/ARNP renewal. CNE for the
RNA must be related to the specialty area.

Grounds for disciplinary actions. The board may deny, revoke, limit or suspend any license, certificate of qualification or authorization to practice nursing as a registered professional nurse, as a licensed practical nurse, as an advanced registered nurse practitioner or as a registered nurse anesthetist that is issued by the board or applied for under this act or may publicly or privately censure a licensee or holder of a certificate or qualification or authorization, if the applicant, licensee or holder of a certificate of qualification or authorization is found after hearing:
(1) To be guilty of fraud or deceit in practicing nursing or in procuring or attempting to procure a license to practice nursing.
(2) To have willfully or repeatedly violated the provisions of the Kansas nurse practice act or any rules and regulations adopted pursuant to that act
