Continuing Education Requirements for the State of Nebraska

Requirements for license renewal for RNs & LPNs: Advanced Practice: Approved Providers: Failure to meet requirements:

Practice of nursing for a minimum of 500 hours within the previous 5 years AND
Continuing Education: 20 Contact Hours within the previous 2 years

10 Hours of continuing education must be peer reviewed and approved
Up to 10 Hours may be obtained by Home Study

Nebraska is a part of the Interstate Compact License group that recognizes and permits nurses to practice in group states under their home state license. License renewal must be obtained under the home state license requirements.

Current National Certification; Documentation of a minimum of 2080 hours of practice as an APRN within 5 years immediately preceding renewal and 40 contact hours of continuing education in the clinical specialty area within the previous 2 years, ten of which shall be in pharmacotherapeutics; At least 500 of the 2080 hours of practice must be in a clinical role in which there is a direct nurse/patient relationship.

NURSING EDUCATION OF AMERICA® is Accredited as a Provider of Continuing Education in Nursing by the American Nurses' Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). NURSING EDUCATION OF AMERICA® courses are peer reviewed and approved.

License may be revoked for noncompliance with continuing education/practice.
