Continuing Education Requirements for the State of North Dakota

Requirements for license renewal for RNs & LPNs:

 

Advanced Practice: Approved Providers: Failure to meet requirements:

All contact hours may be obtained by Independent or Home Study methods.

2005-2006 Renewal (current license expires 12/31/04) 4 contact hours of CE are required for license renewal

2006-2007 Renewal (current license expires 12/31/05) 10 contact hours of CE are required for license renewal

2007-2008 & All following years: 12 hours of CE are required for license renewal

North Dakota is a part of the Interstate Compact License group that recognizes and permits nurses to practice in group states under their home state license. License renewal must be obtained under the home state license requirements.

 

An advanced practice nurse must complete at least 12 contact hours of approved CE to renew their license every 2 years. APRN with prescriptive authority must complete 15 contact hours of CE related to pharmacology. These 15 contact hours may fulfill the RN/APRN renewal contact hour requirements of 12 CE. NURSING EDUCATION OF AMERICA®is Accredited as a Provider of Continuing Education in Nursing by the American Nurses' Credentialing Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).
The ANCC is the credentialing division of the American Nurses Association.

The Board monitors compliance with the CE requirements through an audit sysem. Failure to respond to or to satisfactorily complete an audit of your CE records will result in your records being marked "NOT ELIGIBLE TO RENEW." You may not practice nursing care without a current valid license.
